Please bring canned or non - perishable food to the meeting for the valley food banks. We are still collecting paper good   For the church.   Bev Hettinger, Chairman President’s Corner…   Hi   I hope your Christmas and New Years were joyful with your family and friends; we had a houseful (only seven adults) but we had a great time. Dominos, Farkle, and a fun (like we do at quilt guild) exchange of edible gifts.   A Sharp Shinned Hawk came into the bird feeder, look-ing for a bird to eat; he (she) did an amazing wing thing to flush the sparrows in a bush and he caught one of them. We also visited the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge to see the Snow Geese, thousands of them. When one of them gives a signal, they all rise into the air and either move to another area or settle back down. Of course, the Sandhill Cranes are winter resi-dents there, too, and there were thousands of them.   I am quilting an oncology sized quilt and am coming up with questions for our ergonomic presenters. I do not think I should sit on the edge of my chair and I do not think my shoulders should get so stiff/tired.   The forecast for this weekend (writing on the 6th) has a  possibility of snow; if you see me dancing in the streets I will either be celebrating new snow or asking the snow gods for more snow. roject committee challenge. I will have to have my own challenge next year.   JANUARY 2018 VOLUME 24, NUMBER 8   The Fun Stuff    Business Meeting 9:30 a.m.   United Methodist Church   215 Washington, Monte Vista   ***   January 29, 2017   Business Meeting 9:30   Pot luck lunch   - Ergonomics for Quilters   January Set - up -  Leah Clark    Clean - up -  Janet and Sue   Program committee report   January, we will have Jill Mellott and Stephanie Riggen- bach with Quilters Ergonomics.   I have come up with a mystery block for retreat. Please bring a fat quarter of white and a fat quarter of two different darks. The darks can be scrappy; there will be 2 squares and eight larger  pieces. I had a thought: for everyone who makes a block at retreat you can put the name of your charity into a hat and whomever wins, the quilt will be finished for your charity. Bev   Retreat Mystery Block     Is this what you are paying so much for?   Just thought I'd share for the newsletter. Doing well.
